TO COPE up with the dwindling influx of local and foreign tourists, the tourism sector in Pattaya, Thailand are set to offer free hotel rooms to all those persons who will visit the seaside resort from May 1 to Oct 31.
Aside from the free hotel rooms, the tourism industry will also offer as much as 50 percent discount in restaurants and shopping malls to tourists who will visit the majestic island.
Chatchawal Supachayanont, president of the Eastern Chapter of the Thai Hotels Association (THA) cited the global financial crisis and the unstable political condition of Thailand as top reasons for the reduction of tourists in the island.
Chatchawal is hopeful this new marketing scheme will lure back tourists back to their island.
He said some 20,000 rooms and that all operators would join the promotion.
“This is the first time we have had co-operation from all parties, aiming to restore Pattaya’s tourism image,” Chatchawal told reporters.
Furthermore, the tourism official hopes that Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva can successfully convince tourists to visit the country and that the government is doing its best to end the political instability.
