THERE is still more good news despite the gloomy economy of the world.
A group of real estate developers is working with local authorities in Thailand’s Khao Yai region to establish an international software park housing start-up companies in the ICT sector.
To kick-off the ambitious plan, a development and survey team had already been set up last year to plan the establishment of the international software park.
Panupong Wanjantuk, an expert from Khon Kaen University who is also serving as a consultant for the project said there are plans for local government bodies to provide the project´s physical infrastructure.
Panupong added development of the software park itself would be divided into multiple phases.
In a first phase, the development team would inject money to set up the International Software Park, a training centre and an incubation centre. In a second phase, an international university would be established to act as a talent pool for the ICT companies present in the park.
He revealed the development team plans to set up an international university so it can create an international software curriculum for students that will give them the ICT skills and the ability to develop software to support the demands of industry and business.
He added the move would also promote Thailand´s software industry and local software development on global markets.
Furthermore, Panupong said the project could attract up to 200 companies, both local and international, to set up businesses at the park within 5-10 years.
Panupong said these companies would then develop software to support both local and international markets.

I wonder where this is. Other reports say it is 80km from Pak Chong. That is a big area. Property values are already going up fast in Khao Yai area. They will really jump when this project gets started.
